Let's Meet the SPED Staff!

School Psychologist

Bio: This is my 12th year as a School Psychologist, and going into my 5th year at Laurin Middle School. Being a part of a military family, I had the opportunity to work in various states and school districts such as Ohio, California, Hawai’i, and now, Washington. I have enjoyed supporting and working with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds. I have an amazing husband (who is an SEA at Prairie High School) and two wonderful children, a daughter in the Air Force and a son starting as a junior in the Evergreen School District. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, hanging out with our backyard chickens, and simply taking the time to relax and unwind.

Bio: Welcome, добро пожаловать, bienvenido, aloha! I teach Resource Math and Social skills through classroom and through push-in support. I have taught at a High School, so I know how important middle school is for learning. Life experiences from completing my Masters in Education, owning a child-care business, serving in the Air Force, moving as a Navy wife, and raising my special-needs sons have prepared me to help your student succeed. Hobbies: family trips, national park hiking, photography, baking, gardening, and motorcycle rides. Every student can graduate! I am honored to support their learning journey. Positive words! Go Lions!

Special Education Resource Teacher

Bio: As an educator entering my 13th year, I look forward to working with students and families. Prior to a career in education, I had careers in business and transportation. I continue to work as a professional writer. Between us, my Sweetie and I have seven children and eight grandchildren. We enjoy spending time with family and friends, our four dogs, two cats and Skylar, the tweet. Hiking, heading out to various locations, and talking to each other are high on our list of activities.

Special Education Resource Teacher

Bio: This school year marks my 12th year of teaching special education and my 4th year at Laurin Middle School. Prior to teaching middle school, I taught high school students for 8 years in various parts of the country: Kennewick, WA; Cecil County, MD; and Randolph, MA. I used to be an English as a Second Language Teacher in the Philippines, which is where I’m originally from. On weekends and during the summer, I love travelling near and far, and exploring trails, lakes, or beaches. Movement is important to me and I enjoy hiking, kayaking, swimming, practicing yoga, and climbing.

Special Education Center Based Classroom Teacher

Bio: This is my 22nd year of teaching Special Education and my 5th year at Laurin. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Oregon State and a Masters in Special Education from Portland State. I was born in Oregon, spending half of my childhood there and the other half in California. Prior to teaching I spent 21 years in the military giving me an opportunity to travel extensively. This love of traveling continues as my wife and I travel to Europe every summer to visit her family. We have three adult children, one in LA and two in Innsbruck, Austria. We also have two amazing dogs and three grand-puppies.

Bio: This will be my 10th year as a speech and language pathologist in BGSD and my 7th year at Laurin Middle. I love helping students understand the world around them and supporting them in finding their voice to express their knowledge and who they are. I enjoy working with all grade levels at LMS and get to witness students evolving into themselves as they grow through each grade. I stay busy at home with a 2 year old boy and enjoy singing and dancing in the kitchen in hopes to return to the stage once the pandemic is over.

Occupational Therapist

Bio: I have been a school based occupational therapy for 18 years. This will be my 12th year at BGSD. Occupational Therapy supports students in being successful in their every day “occupations” involved in being a student. OT supports students with skill development, modifying the environment, and identifying strategies to help students be successful at school. The best part of being a school occupational therapy is supporting students in meeting their functional goals. Some things that bring me joy, besides being an OT, include spending time with my family, including my four awesome, wild, and caring nephews, spending time in nature hiking and swimming, dancing, singing, and yoga.
